Bathroom and Kitchen Renovation, Mosman
The owners of this property found it hard to take the first steps into updating and expanding their tired looking home for their young family. However, by understanding the family’s routines and preferences, the ideas started flowing. After a few discussions it became evident that our primary goal was to increase space for this growing family. In addition, the owners wanted to create an elegant, streamlined, modern look whilst remaining practical for the daily routines.
The main feature of the kitchen was the elegant 40mm carra marble bench top which was also extended into the splashback for a simple streamlined look. The white satin polyurethane cabinets were designed to allow for extra storage by continuing all the way to the ceiling. Handles were deliberately left off to continue the sleek and minimalistic look. Even with all the appliances in this kitchen (oven, steam oven, gas cook top and integrated dishwasher) the owners say their renovated kitchen looks sleek and clean. It now has plenty of room for storage so that bench tops no longer looked cluttered, making the bench area appear larger and showcases the stunning marble.
The original bathroom was too small to accommodate the family’s lifestyle and was extended to double in size. To achieve a simple and stylish bathroom, the owners opted not to introduce too much colour and created a long continuous look using the same square tile for the floor and three of the walls. The front feature wall was designed by using the same tile as used in the rest of the bathroom cut in a rectangular brick shape. The tiles were a clever way to enhance the room size, as was the concealed cistern, frameless shower screen, square set ceiling and wall hung vanity. And finally, a very deep bath with tiled hob was selected over a freestanding bath as it was considered more practical for the owner’s young children as well as for cleaning purposes.
