Bathroom Renovation, St Ives Sydney

The owners of this bathroom were tired of walking into their cramped and dated ensuite with worn out accessories and a large corner spa that was never used. The rooms clutter and awkward layout was impractical and limiting on the owners private bathroom retreat. What they really wanted was to recreate a luxurious Balinese inspired bathroom, which was the basis of this spacious and light bathroom design.

The goal was to create a room that would look luxurious and inspire relaxation, perfect for bringing a day spa look and feel into the owner’s home. The final result was not only a delight for the owner, but this bathroom was also featured in Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly magazine and was nominated as one of 4 finalists in the 2009 HIA Awards.

The key feature is the freestanding bath which has been used as the centerpiece to this hotel inspired look. The elegant bath spouts complement the luxurious look of the bath and puts you in the mood for that relaxing bathing experience. Earthy tones and French pattern travertine feature tiles have been used for a completely natural earthy look, and draw your attention to the key bathroom features like the bath, vanity and wall cut out above the bath.

The design also included dual basin bowls, specially selected to closely match the shape of the bath. The wall mounted vanity was also fitted with underneath lighting that turns on automatically when you enter the room, creating a ‘floating’ feeling. Soft lighting was also added to the wall cut out over the bath.

A sliding door, larger frameless shower, and custom vanity were also added to allow extra storage and open up the available space.

From dated to delightful, this bathroom renovation has been designed to entice the day spa experience at home!

This renovation was featured in the Bathroom Year Book magazine edition 15.
